Those who read the Beechwalk pages of this website will have seen and read how the 'mine collapse hollow' in the field was filled with about 2.5m depth of clay and soil so that a house could be placed on top.
It was obvious that the field drained into this hollow and obvious to those who stood in the hollow or looked at the vegetation in it before the houses were built that it remained dry in the base. It doesn't take a lot of guesswork to think where the water was going.
Planners are supposed to consider drainage. Now in 2003 we don't know if it's the planners fault, Wainhome's fault for not installing alternative land drains or just failed land drains.
