TREES SAVED THE DAY

Beechfield II

In Beechfield II(b) these protected trees were to be squeezed by 4 new houses but not felled.

This photograph helped alert Wigan's Tree Preservation Officer to the visual importance of these trees. They were first protected on a short term basis for 6 months along with another, which became important at the end of the Beechfield road.. After weighing submitted opinions from the public and developers a TPO was granted which Dorbcrest officially challenged. Wigan MBC won that battle against Dorbcrest.

In Beechfield II(b) these trees were to be squeezed by four new houses. This particular battle was won because the Tree preservation Officer was able to argue the new building would be too close to the protected trees.
