Beechfield II(b)

This plan was to fill No. 17 Almond Brook Rd.  with more housing. It died away after local opposition and intervention from the Tree Preservation Officer.

Beechfield I(b) had gone very wrong for the planners and resulted in a huge and unapproved wall/fence retaining thousands of tons of clay and rubble.

It was a public concern that planners could be tempted to approve Beechfield II(b) just to cover up the mistakes of Beechfield 1(b).

Had the plan been approved and more houses built up on massive banks there would have been no alternative to bringing in the Council Ombudsman to investigate. This is the publics only way to object after a planning decision is made and the grounds for using the method are very strict.
