Tree Law and the TPO

From the Beechfield experience it pays to make an effort to protect trees before the developers dream up plans.

Do Something Yourself! Save a Tree.
Wigan's short of them and knows it.

The main points are that you don't have to be the land owner to apply to the local council Tree Preservation Officer. It may be even be an area of trees. The trees do need to be visible from publicly accessible places.

Once you have a TPO watch carefully. Developers are not too concerned by the sizes of the fines!
