72. REOPENING OF FOOTPATH AT ASHFIELD HOUSE, STANDISH: The Director of Legal Services submitted a report (circulated) advising Members of the current position with regard to the footpath which adjoined Cedar Avenue and the access drive to the car park at Ashfield House Hotel, Standish, which had been the subject of enforcement procedures, following the blocking of the footpath by a third party. Despite protracted negotiations to secure the removal of the obstruction to the footpath, little or no progress had been made and a number of options were put forward in the report. Resolved: (1) That the Director of Legal Services be authorised to arrange for contractors acting on behalf of the Council to enter the land to remove the fence panel, to restore the land to a condition which makes the footpath useable and to recover the expenses of doing that work from the owner of the land. (2) That the Director of Legal Services be requested to submit a further report to the next meeting of this Committee.
